MEET THE BAND
Alyssa began performing at a very young age on the amateur dramatics scene in Inverness. After a successful admission to The Dance School of Scotland, she studied Musical Theatre for two years in Glasgow and then went on to further her training at Arts Educational Schools, London where she gained a BA Hons degree in Musical Theatre.
After ten years on stage in professional shows, Alyssa moved on to calling ceilidhs and singing for weddings and functions all over England. Alyssa has now relocated back up north where it all began.
Colin is a multi-instrumentalist now living with his young family on the Black Isle. Originally from Tain, Colin embraced the excellent musical tuition offered in the Highlands and began his musical journey learning whistle, piano and accordion. In 2003 he was awarded a place to study the bassoon at Strathclyde University where he gained a BA Hons degree in Applied Music. Despite his varied musical talents and interests, Colin has always felt happiest behind a drum kit. He records and plays with bands in a variety of genres both locally and further afield.
Out with his performing work Colin is a woodwind instructor for HighLife Highand.
Jessica is originally from Cromarty on the Black Isle. She is a graduate from Newcastle University with a degree in Folk and Traditional Music on her primary instrument the piano. Since graduation she has built a career in Highland; teaching in schools and nurseries, working with several Feisean, leading choirs, running workshops and private music lessons.
Jess has extensive experience in music performance and plays regularly with a successful ceilidh band.
Rebelling against the traditional music scene as a youngster, Martin is a self taught guitarist turned bass player where he is most comfortable. He is also a keen upright bass player which he previously played with Indie Folk band - Ernest Rambles.
Martin left school and studied electronics and sound engineering in Glasgow. Ten years later he moved back north where he now works as an Electrical Engineer in the construction industry.
After trying out piano, trumpet, French horn and trombone while in primary school, Jamie finally discovered his preference for guitar aged 11. Over the years he has attended master classes with world class players such as Martin Taylor, Pierre Bensusan and Peter Stewart. He has a MA Hons degree in Music from Glasgow University and an M.Ed degree in Arts and Education from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He is a full-time working musician working with various music education initiatives including HighLife Highland.
